Goals and More Goals

I feel like September or the beginning of Autumn is the time when I think about the remaining months ahead. I asked myself questions like what can I do to make sure I’m on track on the goals I’ve set for the year and what my goals are next year.  Perhaps it’s too soon to plan but to be honest, I didn’t start one of my goals for the year till April 2017. So ahead start say 1 – 3 months is ideal to build the momentum coming 2018.

What really helps me is to set a theme for the year and focus on 2 goals max in different areas. Usually these require longer time to complete. Some people have quarterly goals, but I haven’t tried that yet so I couldn’t say if it works for me.

If 2016 was the year of fun, 2017 is the year of change and then for 2018? It’s the year of creativity. I’m putting this out here early on but I intend to focus on (1) To start and build Think Runway Vintage brand, like an actual business (2) Complete a year of photo art journal. That’s it! It’s easier to focus your energy on 2 areas and completing them rather than having a ton of goals and achieving none. I’ll report back on how I did for 2017 but these are just my thoughts on ending the year with a bang and starting a new in 2018.

Oh Tokyo!

Oh Tokyo!

Perhaps this will come as a surprise but I didn’t like Japan AT FIRST as most people do. I guess I wasn’t into the whole electronics and anime which is dominant in Japan. The weather didn’t serve as well either as it was raining for the entire 2 – 3 days. What a bummer. But nonetheless I did enjoy the food and shopping which we did much later in our trip and oh we did lots of arcade games as well. Here are some of the highlights

12 – 19 Aug 2017

·       Went up to Tokyo Tower and saw the amazing night view
·       Joined the free walking tour and went around Akihabara, Oeno and a shrine
·       Visited Asakusa Temple, Disney Sea and Dentsu Isobar HQ
·       Had lunch with the Dentsu Isobar HQ team near Tsukiji Market
·       Played arcade games at Shinjuku and won Doremon and Hello Kitty dolls
·       Took those kawaii photos at the photo booth
·       Ate yakitori at a traditional Japanese dining at Shinjuku
·       Had lunch and drinks with Mama Bea and Ken
·       Went around Roponggi hills, Shibuya and Harajuku
·       Ate all the traditional Japanese food on our list (Ramen, Sushi, Takoyaki etc)

Silence

Silence

boy, paris, and couple image

Sometimes I fail to recognize that silence meant nothing more than stillness. When I hear no sound and see empty spaces around, I tend to wonder where your mind is. Is it with me or is it with your sanity? As we brisk through the crowd, you stopped and asked me to grab your hand as if it’s the only thing that would save me. Then you told me you love me in the deepest sincerest form I’ve ever heard you said. Then that's when I knew how much you love me.

When You Want To Be All That There Is

When You Want To Be All That There Is

My creativity bug is finally gone and I'm back to the swing of things. Woohoo! I guess we all have these moments where we got burned out and all we want to do is just catch up on the latest episode of Bachelor in Paradise. I'm guilty of that and yes I watched 3 hours worth of that show during my flight back from Tokyo and my boo, well he kinda rolled his eyes at me lol.

So here I am back in Singapore daydreaming of when I'll get to live a life filled with creativity. By that I mean making a living out of my creative work. I want to be all that there is; an entrepreneur, curator, writer, painter, photographer. Perhaps not so much of the latter but you get the gist of it. There really is a fine line between what you like and knowing what you can do and if I'm going to be honest, I'm more of a writer. Perhaps I can work on that while continue to do others things on the side as well, mainly as a hobby I guess.

For The First Time My Heart Felt At Peace

For The First Time My Heart Felt At Peace

Sometimes it amazes me how much a person can love; unconditionally and beyond measure, that even with our flaws they see beyond that and love us anyway. I found someone, well at least he found me. I wasn't intending to share this but it's a kind of love I've never felt before. For the first time my heart felt at peace and that I will be okay because I have him.

The Real Battle Lies Within Ourselves

The Real Battle Lies Within Ourselves

I’m up up in the air flying to Tokyo as I’m writing this. I feel a sense of gratitude, happiness and contentment. I just turned 29 and the couple days was spent with the people I love most. I pre-partied in Hong Kong, had lunch with the ladies, a staycation with my man and now we’re traveling to Tokyo, the city I’ve been wanting to visit.

As I count my blessings and look through the days ahead, I realise that though there will always be people that brings light to our lives, the real battle lies within ourselves. How can you feel contented yet still move forward? How can you control your emotions without compromising how you feel? How can you feel okay with not knowing what to do and spend the rest of your life not knowing it? These are just some questions I have yet to answer and perhaps someday I will have for them.

Epic Weekend In Hong Kong

Epic Weekend In Hong Kong

I partied too much in Hong Kong. Pause… I fell sick after but I’m not going to bore you with that. Partying in Hong Kong is very different from any other city. The clubs are open till much later and there’s enough places to eat after you’ve drown yourself in alcohol at 5 in the morning. It’s enough to keep you going while you burst out your energy till the sun rises and that's pretty much what we did for 2 nights in the row. Only in the second night, we had to end the night early. Clearly, we had too much to drink.

4 - 6 Aug, Fri - Sun

The first night calls for gathering the peeps we met at random. Gab, the Mr Conyo dude who lives in Hong Kong and Francis, the Canadian guy I met a few years back who happens to be in the city for a work trip. What are the odds and here we all are at Lan Kwai Fong getting ourselves enough drinks to dance the night away, mostly gin and tonic. But what made it amazing was the Dragon-I club and catching the sunrise by the harbour with wines on hand to keep us going. Oh and we did take a ferry back to Kowloon at 6:30am.

The second night was more eventful thus passing out too early. Pre-drinks at the hotel with the remaining Merlot from the night before, Heat Wave Party by W Hotel #showface, Ozone Bar at 118 Ritz Carlton, Port Bar then some club I forgot the name of. Too much shots and mixed of strong gin and wine killed me but the boys ain’t done yet. After heading back to the hotel at about 4:30am, say what?, they still manage to finish up the bottle of wine plus another one. I joined the conversation till 7:30am but I had to sleep for the 1pm checkout.

It was literally an epic weekend. What a way to pre-celebrate my 29th birthday.

Happy 29th Birthday To Me

Happy 29th Birthday To Me

I know I'm writing this a bit early but I have time to think and I know I won't be able to pour it all out in the coming days with all the travel plans so here it goes.

I won't say my twenties has gone by quickly, in fact it was set on a phase where I slowly learned and defined my principles, values and beliefs. I learned what's important and how to value myself more than I did back then. You can say that I have grown wiser after almost a decade of unexpected events and countless experiences.

Now I allow myself to feel things and not apologize for it. To believe there's good in people regardless how often life proves you otherwise. That we shouldn't be quick to judge or tell anyone that the decisions they make in life are wrong. We're not any better than them. To always have faith and know that life meant well. You just have to trust in it.

As I enter the final year of my twenties, I want to tell myself this:
Please don't be scared. Embrace change as it comes and know that you are never alone. That there will always be someone in your life during times of need. Remember that your only real responsibility is to strive to live each day with happiness, contentment and to work hard for a promise of better tomorrow. Life is short so do as you please, you only have this time left.

PS: Every year I try to write something on my birthday just that I missed a good 3 years. But here are my 22, 23, 24, 25.

Back To Back Trips

Back To Back Trips

Starting this Friday it's going to be a mad dash of travels and celebrations, well at least for a good two weeks. First stop HONG KONG! Yes I can't get enough of this city for its food and energy, literally the New York of Asia. The plan? To drink and party non-stop for 2 straight nights before flying back to Singapore. We have Lan Kwai Fong on the list and a pool party at W Hotel. Sweet! My Canadian friend is also in town so it's gonna be a blast of party and amazing people. What a way to kick of my 29th birthday.

Thereafter a short and sweet staycation to celebrate my birthday and off to Tokyo I go! A full week in the land of the sun where I'll eat my hearts out from ramen to sushi to street foods to desserts. Gosh I hope I don't gain 10lbs when I head back. Honestly, I'm just waiting for someone to ask me to go to Japan because I don't dare navigating the city on my own with the language barrier but here I am all set and ready to go. Japan I'm coming for you!
