NARS Cruella: Best Red for Fair Skin?

NARS Cruella: Best Red for Fair Skin?

I love a good red lipstick especially one that is flattering on my skin tone. I have a fair skin and though most people would say that any color would suit this type, if I'm not feeling it then I'm not going to wear it.

But NARS Cruella is different. It's a shade that I could wear everyday and feel good about it. It's velvet matte finish that leaves a stain on your lips even after you wear it for hours. I'm a big fan of lipsticks that does just that, then I wouldn't have to constantly check in the mirror and reapply. We all know how troublesome reds could be but believe me this doesn't budge and you can even eat a burger with it. Wouldn't that be awesome?

The Happiness Project: One-Sentence Journal

The Happiness Project: One-Sentence Journal

I know I know, I'm so late in this bandwagon but hey, better late than never.

Earlier this year I picked up The Happiness Project 5 Year Record Journal. After seeing a lot of people getting into this I've decided to keep one of my own and thought that it would be good to look back on what I've done on the exactly same day in a different year. I know lots of people got the Q&A version which is identical to this one, but I just find this looks a lot better.

On each page you'll get an inspiring quote and 4 lines to fill in your thoughts. So far I have been consistent and I find that it's best to do it just when you are about to dose off. That way you can reflect on what transpired and jot down the highlights of your day.

Which Nail Polish Color is Best for Which Scarf?

Which Nail Polish Color is Best for Which Scarf?

If you follow me on instagram you probably know by now how addicted I am to nail polishes. I have over 120 bottles as of my last count and for most people this is a ridiculous number. But hey, yolo. But the thing that most people don't know is that I also collect scarves. And what I like to do is to match these two together to compliment my outfit.

I like scarves that are both textured and patterned. Recently I got this COS cobalt blue scarf similar to this and I'm in love with it. I like to pair it with Essie The More The Merrier or with Chanel Holiday because I find that just compliments the color very well.

For a patterned scarf like what I have here from Zara, I like to pair it with Revlon Colorstay nail polish in Bold Sangria or with Estee Lauder Pure Color in Beautiful Liar. I just find that these are fool proof colors when it comes to this.

How To: Edgier Winter Nail Art Design

How To: Edgier Winter Nail Art Design

When it comes to making my nails appropriate for winter, I'd like to deviate away from all the usual glitters and opt for something a little bit edgier. Dark and metallic hues tend to be my favorite during this time of year but I still like to add a touch of sparkle here and there just to give it a more flair.

One of the easiest way to do that is by using a dotting tool with a gold or silver nail polish. There's a lot of creative ways to use it but I find that this placement is an easiest no fuzz way of winterizing your nails.

Recently I discovered that Julep came out with amazing winter nail polish shades. Whether you opt for creams, darks, sparkle or even just a plain pink, they have it in their collection and you might just find yourself wanting to collect them all.

Top 10 Books of 2014

Top 10 Books of 2014

Last year I read a total of 28 books, more than double than I did last 2013. So I was very proud of myself. Initially I was planning on reading 50 books but then I couldn't keep up, so this is the number I end up with.

It was also in 2014 that I discovered YA books thanks to the Mortal Instruments movie. I literally marathon the books after watching the film. Though everyone wasn't pleased with the movie adaptation, well I can't really give my two cents on that because I never read the first book in the first place. Nonetheless, I discovered the world of fantasy which I'm now obsessed with. So without further ado, here are my top 10 books of 2014 in no particular order.

  1. Daughter of Smoke and Bones - Laini Taylor
  2. The Paris Wife - Paula Mclain
  3. Cinder - Marissa Meyer
  4. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour  - Morgan Matson
  5. The Rosie Project - Don Tillman
  6. The Paris Letters - Janice Macleod
  7. City of Heavenly Fire - Cassandra Clare
  8. Clockwork Princess - Cassandra Clare
  9. Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
  10. Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell
