Tropical Lust

Summer is here and the weather gets really annoying. I'm not a very tropical person to be honest but I love the fashion. Dresses, sunglasses, sandals are so me. That's why I try to embrace it whenever I can.

Orange, yellows and greens are for me the ultimate colours of summer. It just reminds me of the sunset hue and the tropical beach. Love it!

Dempsey Brasserie - A New York Style Bistro

Dempsey Brasserie - A New York Style Bistro

I have a thing about bistros. I enjoy the rustic charm, food and ambiance. That's why when I stumbled upon this restaurant online, I knew I have to try it.

My favorite dish here would be the scallops with poached eggs and asparagus for appetizer and duck confit for the mains. I enjoy the duck confit so much that I clear my plate out completely. It was that good. I've tasted several duck confit from Le Bistrot du Sommelier and Open Door Policy (ODP) and this is the most tasteful of all. I'm guessing it's the creamy sauce that binds the flavor perfectly. As for the dessert, the sticky date pudding wasn't up to par with the Marmalade's nor Boomerang's. If you're the type who doesn't like really sweet desserts then I think you'd like this.

The place is also a good venue to have a couple of wines. They have a massive wine selection and surely you'd find something you like other than the usual. Celebrations are pretty popular here as well. While having dinner, a group of ladies are celebrating their friend's birthday and I've also read a blogger who did the same.

I'd definitely go back to this place. It's one of those bistros in the city that's worth trying.

White Spaces

White Spaces

A clean white space always give a refreshing and relaxing mood. It may not be the safest colour scheme if you have kids but if you're a bachelor or bachelorettte, this is a nice way to decorate your space. You can add in a touch of colour here and there but going for an earthy tone like browns and black won't be so bad either.

Beauty: The Fish Tail Braid

Fish tail braid is one of the hottest hair trends this season. It's sort of like a modern take on the usual braid we knew as we're growing up; definitely one of those trends that you should give a try. I just think this is a good way to change up your look especially now that summer is coming up. If you want to learn how to do this, you can go here.

Fashion and Beauty Haul

Fashion and Beauty Haul

I'm all about orange and floral prints lately. I think it's the most feminine trend this season. I wore this during the weekend brunch at Rider's Cafe, which I'll do a review really soon. I paired that with this Essie nailpolish. This grey shade is my go to colour when I wanted something neutral.  I would have gone with a mint green colour for this look but I have yet to find a shade that compliments my skin tone.

Do you have a go to neutral colour or a favorite mint green polish?

Half a year is almost gone

Half a year is almost gone

I can't believe half of the year is almost gone. Wow, times flies so fast.

I tend to look back and reflect on what I have done so far and for me, sometimes the most beautiful experience in life isn’t plan and this is exactly what happened to me.
  • Had a closer relationship with God
  • Had a beautiful change in perspective
  • Learned to be selfless
  • Discovered new places to eat and tried out different cuisines
  • Lost 3kg as of today (very random but I'm happy!)

The Best Chocolate Brownie

The Best Chocolate Brownie

If there's one dessert that I'd die of eating it's a slice of chocolate cake. The pure rich goodness is enough to make me forget about everything. It just makes me happy.

So yesterday I had the perfect reason to eat one. I was feeling a bit sick and I knew this was the only solution. I feel guilty eating an enormous slice of chocolate cake so I opted for a brownie instead. Little did I know, it was probably one of the best brownie I've ever tasted.

This is the espresso brownie from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. It's a dark chocolate with a hit of espresso, both of which I love. It's dense, rich, gooey texture is enough to make me feel so full, I couldn't eat dinner afterwards. Seriously I think this is for 2 people and I ate the whole thing down.

MET GALA 2012

Met Gala is clearly the fashion's most glamorous evening. With all the gorgeous gowns worn by celebrities, designers, top editors and muses, what's there not to love? Surely we all have our favorites but mine would definitely be Gwyneth Paltrow's Prada dress. It's a lovely steel blue duchesse halter dress with inverted black pleats and micro-paillettes. It just compliments her body so well. Totally stunning!

Boomerang Bistro and Bar - An Authentic Australian Cuisine

Boomerang Bistro and Bar - An Authentic Australian Cuisine

I was looking for Singapore's best sticky date pudding when I stumbled upon this bistro online. I decided to give it a try not only because of it's dessert but also because they serve breakfast all day on weekends. If you know me, I enjoy brunches and if it's overlooking the river then I have more reasons to try it. There's just something about soaking up the sun, wearing a cute sundress and drinking a glass of freshly squeeze orange juice that makes the weekend more relaxing.

I ordered "Bondi" (apparently, that's the only thing on the menu that looks safe for my diet.) It was light and tasty. I enjoyed the tunisan toast because of it's chewy texture and the eggs were perfectly poached and runny. Yea, it was good.

As for the dessert, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I enjoyed that of Marmalade Pantry's so much that I was hoping this would beat it but it failed. Majority of the food bloggers said this is the best sticky date pudding in Singapore, that's why my expectations was high. But it doesn't quite appeal to me. It's not as sweet as Marmalade's and it doesn't have that "oh my gosh this is so good" factor. Though the portion is big, good enough for two, I'd rather have something small yet it taste awesome.

But a part from the food, this is good place to skip the crowd and just enjoy the outdoors.

Spring Summer: Denim + Print + Leopard

Spring Summer: Denim + Print + Leopard

Who would have thought that mixing summer prints with denim and leopard clutch would work well together? The print didn't clash all together and the contrast between the brown and bright prints is what making this outfit look polished enough and very street style. Mental note, I need to have those pieces!
