You Need To Constantly Seek Your Motivation

Sometimes I'm afraid that I will lose that fire in me to write. I've been there before and it's not something I'm proud of. I learned that you have to nurture your craft and in order to do that you need to constantly seek your motivation. You need to know your "why" and change your way of thinking to put things to action. It's easier said than done but it's an effort we have to put in, at least that's what I remind myself.

It Changes Everything

It Changes Everything

Last night I was discussing with my friend how I feel like I’ve contributed to this city enough, specifically to the companies I worked for, and that in return it has served me well. I moved here to work when I was 20 and since then I managed to save enough money to travel around places I never thought possible. I’m still in my 20s and I feel like I've done what most people in my age haven't.

But I want to do more. Remember a couple of weeks ago I mentioned about contributing to society? Lately it's been calling me to do just that. As I observe myself and those I surround myself with, I realise I have it in me to inspire other people with talents I’m gifted with, to write compelling words that can help others.

I finally figure out what I want to do with my life and surprise surprise what I’ve been looking for is just sitting right under my nose.

Come Home To Yourself

Come Home To Yourself

I've been practicing yoga after my workout for 3 days now and it's doing well for me so far. It serves as a way for me to stretch after a rigorous training and cardio especially for my hips and thighs. As I try to continue onto the practice and afraid that I might not be able to stick with it, I stumble upon this.

"Honour the ritual you have said yes to... Honour it all and come home to yourself." - Adriene Mishler

Lessons from Brooke Castillo

Lessons from Brooke Castillo

I was listening to a podcast recently by Brooke Castillo, the narrator of The Life Coach School and she was talking about the lessons from Jack Canfield. If you don't know him he is the famous motivational speaker and founder of Chicken Soup for the Soul. But I'm not gonna talk about him but rather what Brooke mentioned on her podcast that strikes to me.

1. We need to decide what we want our lives to be. Do we want our lives to be an accumulation of pleasures or do we want to focus more on an accumulation of long-term successes.

2. Ultimately what I want in my life is a relationship with myself that isn't based on escaping myself.

3. Not only do I evolve the world by evolving myself, but also I help other people do that same work. I think that is the point of our lives, right, to evolve to the next version of what is possible. The people that are constantly being creative, and pursuing, and creating a life that's beyond where they are right now are the ones that evolve us.

4. Anything that's worth achieving in our lives is going to be uncomfortable.

Happy 2017 // Day .35

Happy 2017 // Day .35

I had a lot of fun last night. It was the first time I went to Zouk's new location at Clarke Quay and I must say the place is SO SMALL compared to the old one. It was also full house so it was madness. Luckily the queue wasn't that bad so we manage to get in.

Okay so aside from the whole dancing and music, I received a message from my colleague that night that almost brought me to tears. I was literally holding it up because I ain't crying in a club!

He said "Blessed new year Abbey. As the new year brings new uncertainties, rest assured the Lord has gone ahead to prepare the road for you and will walk with you so you never be alone. And behind you to encourage you."

Tears men. Just tears...
