Rider's Cafe - Brunch at the Saddle Club

Rider’s Café is one of those brunch places that gets the most rave. Although the place is difficult to find and even harder to make a reservation, it doesn’t stop people from coming back; that’s how good their food is.

After much curiosity, I manage to make a reservation and tried it out myself. True enough I had a satisfying meal. I ordered the pumpkin soup, eggs benedict and brewed coffee. It wasn't spectacular if you ask me. It has the basic ingredients that made up an eggs benedict but it was good. I enjoyed it because it was perfectly poached and the ham has the right amount of saltiness, which gives that pump of flavour.

But I'm not sure if I ever want to go back to this place. The distance and reservation cuts it off for me. I guess it's enough that I've tried it but that's about it.

Lusting Over: Red, White and Gold

There is something about a bold lip, messy hair and a trendy outfit that gets everyone looking.  Whether you're strolling down a park or sitting in a rustic bistro, you'd grab someone's attention.
And I think this look does just that.

I love how patterns are mixed with strong accessories. It might be too much for some but as long as the colors are not too loud then it still balances it out. A pop of red colour gives it more character and I think that's my favorite part of this look.

In The Spotlight: P.S It's Vida

Most of us tend to forget how natural beauty can work wonders for our skin (and how pretty we actually look with less makeup on). Now that it's summer, it's time we embrace it and what a better way to learn a thing or two about it other than Vida of P.S It's Vida.

She is your girl next door girl friend that has a flare for fashion and a love for easy and wearable makeup. Nudes, pinks and corals are definitely on her list. Let's learn more about her.

What is your ideal summer makeup look?
Something light on the skin like a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, some bronzer, a bright coral or pink blush, tons of highlighter, a flick of gel eyeliner, mascara, and a juicy light pink or peach lip.

What is one beauty product you can’t live without?
I couldn’t live without a nude lipstick. I never really liked my natural lip color and I just love the way a nude lip just pulls together any look. I could wear a nude lip day or night. A few of my favorites are MAC viva glam gaga II, NYX circe, and MAC hue.

Are you an eyeshadow or lipstick kind of girl?
Seeing as I just said I couldn’t live without nude lipstick, I am definitely a lipstick girl. I love being able to create different looks with different lip colors. And I never really feel like my look is complete without lipstick on.

What’s your favourite:
          Foundation
- NARS Sheer glow
          Eyeshadow
- MAC Club
          Lipstick
- MAC Hue
          Blush
- Illamasqua Katie
          Nailpolish
- At the moment it is OPI pandemonium pink

What does your daily skincare routine comprise of?
In the daytime I wash my face with Cetaphil for normal to oily skin on my clarisonic. Then I moisturize with Clinique dramatically different gel. And I use Neutrogena ultra sheer liquid daily sunblock spf 70. At night time I take my makeup off with baby oil on a cotton pad. Then I wash my face again with Cetaphil and my clarisonic. Then I will use La Roche posay effaclar duo on my T zone to keep blackheads and oil under control (this stuff is amazing!) Then I will moisturize with something a little heavier – right now I’m using La Roche Posay nutritic emulsion 2.5%. I also use Mario Badescu’s hyaluronic eye cream. Finally, I will pop some Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream on my lips right before I go to sleep.

What beauty rules did you learn that you still practice today?
I’m not sure I really practice any beauty rules; I kind of just do whatever I think looks good.

If I were to look in your vanity, what are the top 3 beauty brands that I would find?
MAC, NARS, Wet n’ Wild

If you only have 3 beauty items to bring on an island what would that be and why?
Eyeliner – because I have small eyes and it makes such a big difference when they are nicely defined. Blush – I love playing around with different blush colors and I love how blush can easily define your cheeks. Lipstick – because I feel naked without it.

Fire Up with Tefal Cookware

Fire Up with Tefal Cookware

Are you guys feeling the heat lately? I know I did but there are a ton of ways we can enjoy this summer. How about hosting a barbecue party at your backyard? Tefal Cookware is here to share with you how you can enjoy grilling

Invest in a good barbecue. A cast iron grill surface is the perfect partner to meat. A premium grill brush is also worth the extra expense, as regular cleaning will help to protect the grill’s non-stick coating.

Buy the best quality meat.  Cheap meat is packed with sinew and fat that will turn your barbeque feast into a chewy mess. Invest time and money into finding the best meat in your area, which means skipping the supermarket and heading to your local butcher or farmer’s market.

Use the kitchen. A good barbeque starts indoors with the preparation of tasty marinades and side dishes. It’s also handy to keep cooked meats warm in the oven whilst you concentrate on the rest of the grill. The Tefal cookware range has a great hard anodised pan set with silicone grip handles that stay cool, meaning you can take hot meat straight from the oven to the table.

Build a multi-level fire. The best barbeques are created in different levels with real lumpwood charcoal and flavoured wood chippings. The varying levels create sections with different temperature, meaning you can move food around to avoid burning.

Lightly oil the grill. Wrap a clean tea towel around a pair of tongs and coat the barbeque surface with a thin layer of vegetable or rapeseed oil. This will help to protect the metal surface and create impressive grill lines on your burgers.

Glaze at the end. Marinades and sauces are essential for packing extra flavour into your barbeque, but the sugar can cause the meat to burn if added too early. Wait until the meat is almost cooked through, then add the glaze and cook for an additional couple of minutes.

Remember your five-a-day. A barbeque isn’t just a meat feast. Adding vegetables to the grill will inject colour and texture into the mix, whilst ensuring your body gets some vitamins and minerals along with a hefty dose of protein. Onion flavours work particularly well on barbeques because of their natural sugars. Try pre-cooking some sweet potatoes before toasting them on the grill for a crispy finish.
